SHASTRA

SHASTRA : The Weapon

The use of the word 'shastra' is heard everywhere. Mostly during the time of war or in the field of any combat skill. It is said that weapons are as important as the scriptures in life. If Shastra teaches how to live life, then weapons are meant to protect life.

Many wars are described in ancient texts and Puranas. In these wars, there is mention of the use of many types of weapons like bow-arrow, mace, Sudarshan Chakra etc. Shastra are those weapons which are used to attack the enemy by holding them in hand. They were relatively less destructive. They attack only one person at a time. Mace, sword, spear, parshu, noose etc. are examples of weapons. Metal and wood etc. were often used in their construction.

In a war, whether it is a magical power or a weapon, both have an effect. Less than some, more than others. The effect of the weapon depends on the person using it. The characters of the stories of Trishastra got astra i.e. some magical powers, but the use of these weapons is incomplete without shstra. In many Puranas astra and shstra are used together. The bow was called a shastra and the arrow coming out of it was called an astra.

Here most of the characters are completed by astra and shastra together. Where the astra are given to the characters with their birth, their shastra are known to them with their age and their growing knowledge. Just as the astra of the characters are full of mysteries, similarly the shastra of the characters are also mysterious.

The weapon is related not only to Hindu Mythology but also to Greek Mythology and Egyptian Mythology. The weapons used under Greek and Egyptian mythology are considered similar to Hindu mythology. The weapons of all the characters are based on these mythologies.

Let's try to know the weapon power of the characters as well as their magic power. Because that's what matters to their life and their safety.
